Budding young entrepreneur shortlisted
TIMBOON P-12 School student Mikaela Woods is a budding entrepreneur.
Mikaela was one of four finalists shortlisted from a group of 18 young, innovative designers who competed in the Neil Porter Legacy’s (NPL) Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP) recently.
Timboon Agriculture Project co-ordinator Andrea Vallance said the YEP involved young people creating and refining a business idea and coming up with a business model/plan which was presented to a panel of judges.
“The finalists’ proposals included pitches for accessories, clothing hire, and 3D printing, while Mikaela’s idea revolved around her business, Graphix Design, that crafts unique logos, advertisements, and designs for businesses with the potential to help clients elevate their brands,” she said.
“Over the first five weeks of the program, the NPL provided resources, information and a series of videos to help inspire the budding entrepreneurs who were then shortlisted and partnered with an industry mentor who helped them craft their pitch.
“As the judges deliberated, the audience heard from the MC, Alex Dyson, and Issac Purcell, the youngest ever winner of the adult version of the Ideas Pitch Place Night with his caravan park vending machines.”
Mrs Vallance thanked NPL and its partners for the opportunity for students.
