Bulls lock in female leader
POMBORNEIT women’s coach Grace Lee has recommitted to the Bulls for season 2021/22.

POMBORNEIT women’s coach Grace Lee has recommitted to the Bulls for season 2021/22.
The Bulls announced Lee’s reappointment on Wednesday, with the all-rounder set to once again oversee the coaching duties of the club’s two women’s and junior girls teams.
Lee led the Bulls to the Colac and District Cricket Association’s Youth Women’s grand final in her first season, while Pomborneit A went winless but showed improvement across the course of the year.
The junior girls recorded two wins from 10 matches but like Pomborneit A developed significantly over the course of the season.
“I’m very excited to be asked back for a second season of coaching at the Pomborneit Cricket Club,” Lee said.
“We had lots of fun and got to create history with the women’s teams in the competition’s inaugural season, while it was huge honour to carry on the development of the junior girls in their second season.
“I have enjoyed seeing how committed Pomborneit are to our female program and I’m keen to continue to be a part of growing the women’s game.”
Pomborneit president Dave Murphy lauded Lee’s immediate influence in her short time at the club.
“Grace has made an immense impact in her first season at the club,” he said.
“She has inspired female cricketers of all ages and was seen by all as vital to be front and centre of our women’s and junior girls programs going forward.”
Alongside the Bulls maiden grand final berth, a number of players enjoyed stellar individual years that were rewarded at the end of the season.
Sam La Franchi was awarded the competition’s most valuable player after she attracted the maximum 15 votes on offer.
La Franchi also won the competition’s batting aggregate with 198 runs, while team-mate Nellie Sadler claimed the bowling aggregate with 12 wickets.
The pair also made the Team of the Year alongside Lee and Jess Moulden in further recognition of the Bulls program.
