Bulls lose top spot

THE minor premiership is now up for grabs in the Corangamite Volleyball competition.

Round six saw some close and exciting matches which resulted in Bulls falling from top spot.

A nail-biting one all draw between NOBTS and Bulls was followed by a second draw between Poachers and Ballbusters.

When Poachers were able to get home from Bulls 2-1 things changed dramatically at the top end of the ladder, with Poachers taking over top spot.

Ballbusters continue to exert pressure on NOBTS for third spot and are now considered the most improved side in the competition.

Freeballers lifted their performances and have returned the wooden spoon to Cowgirls.

They took it right up to Ballbusters before losing 2-1 and then won easily over the persistent Cowgirls side.

With just two rounds remaining before finals, interest surrounds who will be the A grade finalists.

No longer do Bulls look hot favourites – with both Poachers and NOBTS showing in recent weeks that they are capable of spoiling the Bulls’ party.

Round six results:

Ballbusters def Freeballers 2-1, NOBTS drew Bulls 1-1, Poachers def Bulls 2-1, Freeballers def Cowgirls 4-0, Poachers drew with Ballbusters 1-1 and NOBTS def Cowgirls 4-0.

Ladder after November 12:

Poachers 38, Bulls 36, NOBTS 26, Ballbusters 24, Freeballers 12, Cowgirls 8.
