The Knights took over top spot on Saturday and despite a poor batting effort from the Bulls at MCP Oval, the game went down to the wire.

Apart from a knock of 51 runs from 74 balls from the in-form Tom Darcy, there was little to write home about the Bulls batting, as they struggled to 142 all out in 48 overs.

Finn Tolland continued his knack of picking up an early wicket as Pomborneit then proceeded to bowl tightly and make the chase very difficult for Cobden.

DanussikaBandara was almost impossible to score off, conceding just seven runs from his 10 overs, including seven maidens.

Cobden passed Pomborneit’s score in the 49th over, five wickets down in a tense and interesting run chase.

The division two Bulls batted first against Camperdown at SA Wright Oval, posting 6/205 from their 40 overs.

Opener Matt Richardson made his first half century of the season with 55 from 81 balls, Luke Reynolds scored 55 from 65 balls while Simon Tolland chimed in with 26.

Dean Tevelein took four wickets as the Bulls bowled the home team out for 134 in the 34th over.

Opening bowlers Stephen Walters and Charlie Voutier bowled good spells and took a wicket each, as did Hunter Reynolds and Josh Reynolds in Pomborneit’s 71 run win.

In division three, Boorcan batted first in the game at Boorcan, making 6/225.

Aaron Van Es and Tony Evans took two wickets each.

The Bulls battled hard in reply, making 7/167 from their 40 overs.

Harley Reynolds, elevated to open the batting, made his highest score and maiden half century with 56 from 54 balls, Jack Smith and Donnie McInnes batted well for 24 and 28 respectively, while Ollie Delaney recorded his new highest senior score of 26 not out.

The Pomborneit Gold women hosted Colac at MCP Oval in their qualifying final and had to work hard for their win.

The visitors batted first and were dismissed in the 18th over for 60.

Rachel Dendle with 3/9 from three overs and Tayla Reynolds with 2/11 from three overs were the pick of the bowlers.

Tayla’s caught and bowled was well worth a look on the highlights package of the game on the Pomborneit YouTube channel.

Pomborneit Gold had some stutters in the reply but got there, five wickets down in the 12th over.

Ella Sadler batted well for 27 from 33 balls, Nellie Sadler and Neave Thompson took the team over the line in an unbeaten sixth wicket partnership.

Pomborneit Gold will host Apollo Bay in a semi-final clash at MCP Oval this Sunday.

Pomborneit’s under 17 boys are through to the grand final in their first year in the Colac District CA competition after a tight semi-final at Colac Secondary College Oval on Tuesday night.

Irrewarra batted first on their home ground, making 9/101 from their 30 overs.

Opening bowlers Finn Tolland (3/17 from five overs) and Gavin Reynolds (3/8 from five) were particularly impressive, while spinners Josh Reynolds (2/18 from four) and George Sadler (1/11 from four) did a great job through the middle overs.

The junior Bulls were in all sorts of trouble at 5/35 in the run chase despite opener Finn Tolland facing his 30 ball retirement mark for 14 runs.

Ollie Delaney stood up and played his best under 17 innings of the season, making 15 retired from his 30 balls.

He was well supported by Josh Reynolds who made 10 from 20 balls as Pomborneit nudged ever so closer to the Redbacks score.

Max Rees (20 not out from 15 balls) and Marc Van Es (nine not out from 10 balls) took Pomborneit past Irrewarra’s score in the 28th over.

Pomborneit will play Colac Burnett in the grand final at Colac’s CMTP Oval on Tuesday night.

Top scorers were Scarlett Whitehead with 10, Zoe Unwin with 9 and Stella Hinds with 8.
