POMBORNEIT’S division one team was well beaten by an explosive Bookaar batting effort at MCP Oval last Saturday.

The visitors batted first and amassed 8/306.

Junior leg-spinner Josh Reynolds was economical through the carnage, conceding just 16 runs from six overs, while young seamers Finn Tolland and Gavin Reynolds took three and two wickets respectively.

Despite a few players getting a start, the Bulls never really challenged and finished on 9/185, Grant Place top scoring with 50 from 45 balls.

The division two Bulls batted first at Timboon High School, dismissed in the 38th over for 202.

Simon Tolland played a great hand, making an unbeaten 80 from 73 balls, with the other main contributors being Luke Reynolds with 39 and Sam Whytcross with 27.

Wickets proved hard to come by for the Bulls, Heytesbury/Princetown passing Pomborneit’s score in the 35th over just two wickets down.

Pomborneit’s division three team fielded first in its match at SA Wright Oval, dismissing the home team for 132 in the 35th over.

Alex Downie returned his best figures in Pomborneit colours with 4/12 from 7.2 overs of his off-spin.

Junior player Ollie Delaney was impressive with 3/32 from eight overs.

In reply, Pomborneit passed Camperdown in the 26th over for the loss of seven wickets.

Rounding out a great game, Downie top scored with 40 from 41 balls opening the batting as the division three Bulls made it three wins in a row.

On Sunday Pomborneit Gold women had a comfortable win over Simpson at MCP Oval.

Batting first, Gold made 4/118 from their 20 overs.

Ever reliable team leaders Jess Moulden (20 balls) and Sam Coxon (34 balls) both reached the 30 run retirement mark.

In reply Gold restricted Simpson to 7/69, Nellie Sadler and Isabella Wain taking two wickets each.

The Pomborneit Maroon women had the bye.

In junior cricket, the under 17 boys had a win over Alvie at MCP Oval on Tuesday night.

The visitors batted first, making 9/123 from their 30 overs.

Levi Cootesmith, with 3/14 from four overs, and Fletcher Tolland with 2/18 from five overs were the best of the bowlers.

Ben Whytcross also took two wickets, with a wicket each to Gavin and Josh Reynolds.

Ben Whytcross started the reply off well with 30 from 28 balls, but after a semi collapse the middle order of Jonty Raven (12 from 22 balls), George Sadler (21 retired from 30 balls) and Josh Reynolds (18 retired from 26 balls) got the team over the line and to an eventual score of 6/168.

The Pomborneit Gold under 17 girls rushed to 1/109 from 11.4 overs at MCP Oval on Sunday before the rain set in.

Lucia Clarke and Jada Mahony both made 30 retired.

The Pomborneit Maroon under 17 girls reached 1/32 from 5.4 overs against Irrewarra at CSC Oval on Sunday before rain halted proceedings there too.

The Maroon girls were back in action on Tuesday night at CMTP Oval in Colac, going down by 38 runs.

Colac batted first, making 4/113, with a wicket each to Isabella Wain, Charlotte Richardson and Regan Norman.

Maroon’s reply of 7/75 was highlighted by 30 not out from 36 balls from Isla Spokes, a player in her first year out of the under 13 competition and into the under 17s.

Pomborneit’s under 16 boys had their scheduled match against Heytesbury/Princetown at South Purrumbete completely washed out on Sunday.

The under 14 Bulls lost to Colac at MCP Oval on Friday night.

Max Rahles-Rahbula and Noah Boyd took two wickets each in Colac’s 8/135.

Bailey Fox top scored with 20 in Pomborneit’s reply of 81 all out.

The Pomborneit under 13 boys played two games in four days, losing to Heytesbury/Princetown at Timboon last Friday night, then having an 82 run win over Ecklin at MCP Oval on Monday night.

This game was highlighted by 21 retired to Noah Boyd and 19 to Bailey Fox in Pomborneit’s 3/132 in reply to the visitors’ 5/50.

Pomborneit’s under 13 girls match against Tomahawk Creek on Sunday morning at Irrewillipe was washed out without a ball bowled.
