In bloom: This year’s Mortlake Rose Show promises to delight attendees with some of the most incredible floral arrangements the region has to offer.

The iconic show will once again be run over two days, Saturday and Sunday, November 8-9.

Mortlake Rose Show committee member Pam Walmsley said the committee, a sub-committee of the Mortlake Community Development Committee, was excited to see Soldier’s Memorial Hall filled with people and plants alike.

“The foyer will open from 11.30am on the Saturday with plant, cake and wool pellet stalls,” she said.

“The Rose Cafe opens from 11.30am offering a light lunch or sweet treats with a cuppa.

“The official opening at 2pm will be followed by presentations and guest speaker Sheree Symons, founder of Aussie Wool Pellets.

“Sunday will be a viewing day only with some foyer stalls still in place. A raffle will be drawn at 1pm.

“The committee is most grateful for the sponsorship offered by Wilson’s Real Estate, Taits Legal, Sinclair Wilson, Moyne Shire, Bates IGA and Speak to Bee and our raffle donors.”

Copies of the schedule this year are now available from Mac’s Hotel, the Mount Shadwell Hotel, the Mortlake Op Shop and Bates IGA.

Ms Walmsley said there would be something for everyone at the Mortlake Rose Show.

“The show is not only about roses you’ll find a category for most flowers as well as arrangements and potted plants,” she said.

“Our Kidz Corner will run again so bring the kids along for some fun while you enjoy the beautiful display.

“The garden saucers were very popular with the children last year so we’ll be running this again with each entry receiving a participation award.

“There will be some other activities happening in Mortlake the same weekend.

“The Mortlake and Historical Society will be opening The Ark for you to view their extensive collection, Andy’s Rose Garden will be open for viewing on the Saturday and the Mortlake Market is scheduled for the Sunday.”

Anyone wanting to exhibit in this year’s show was encouraged to bring their entries to Soldier’s Memorial Hall on Friday, November 7 between 6-7.45pm or Saturday, November 8 between 8.30-10.30am.

“The committee encourage people to enter as there is a section for First Time Exhibitors and also a Junior and Secondary section,” Ms Walmsley said.

“We have an experienced entries assistant waiting to assist and guide you with your entries.”
