Businesses see council support
TWO businesses shared in funding under Corangamite Shire Council’s Business Assistance Scheme (BAS) in April, sharing in over $2000 in funding.
The funding allocation, totalling $2695 and a planning permit fee waiver of $226.50, was approved by councillors at this week’s Ordinary Meeting of Council.
Western Victorian Axemans Association, which is based in Camperdown, received $1100 under stream three – community enterprise projects – to go towards first aid training and accreditation to support safer local events.
Councillor Ruth Gstrein encouraged businesses to apply, with $16,724 remaining of the $50,000 budget allocation.
“The BAS scheme has been very successful and been taken up by a number of businesses and clubs operating throughout Corangamite Shire,” she said.

“I think it’s very timely that the Axemans Association are applying for first aid training – hopefully they don’t need to use it.
“It’s great to see businesses getting their facades upgraded.
