Call for photographers and models
EXPRESSIONS of interest are open for photographers and community members to be a part of an image library project which aims to celebrate the diversity of people, places and communities within the Barwon South West region.
The Respect 2040 partnership, which includes Corangamite Shire Council, is seeking community members of all ages, genders, cultures, backgrounds and abilities to be photographed as part of the project.
The project will create a collection of authentic, inclusive and respectful images which can be used by local governments, community organisations, businesses and community groups throughout the region.
The image library aims to reflect the real people of the Barwon South West.
Women and gender diverse photographers are encouraged to submit an expression of interest to be involved in the project.
Successful photographers will be paid for their work and will have the opportunity to showcase their skills while contributing to a valuable regional resource.
Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West chief executive officer Jodie Hill said the image library would help ensure local organisations have access to images which reflect the communities they serve.
“This new image library is an exciting project,” she said.
“It’s about celebrating and recognising the wonderful diversity that exists across our region.
“It’s about real people and real places.
“This is an opportunity to challenge harmful stereotypes about people based on their gender, age, culture, ability or any other characteristic.
“The image library will be a resource that reflects the richness and diversity of our communities.”
The project has been developed in consultation with community representatives to ensure the image library is inclusive, representative and aligned with gender equality and violence prevention.
The image library will be launched during Women’s Health Week in September.
People interested in becoming a photographer or model can download an Expression of Interest form at www.respect2040.com.
Expressions of interest close Tuesday, June 30.
