CAMPERDOWN College claimed the senior boys’ state bowls championship title when they defeated Doncaster Secondary College in the grand final.

Tyler Newcombe, Jacob Brown, Isaac Winsall and Kona Kerr travelled to Sunbury Bowling Club on Thursday, May 5, where they finished top of their division after defeating McKinnon Secondary College by 8-7 and Broadford 9-8.

After winning their semi-final 8-6, the boys defeated Doncaster 11-9 in the grand final, which for the trio of Isaac, Jacob and Tyler was the second grand final appearance in two years.

Camperdown College staff member and team coach Kathryn Robertson said the team’s previous experience helped them maintain composure on the day.

“All the boys represented themselves and Camperdown College amazingly, with wonderful sportsmanship and persistence throughout the day,” she said.
