Camperdown decks streets for X-mas
BUSINESSES in Camperdown decked the streets with festive fun over the weekend for the annual Celebrate Christmas in Camperdown campaign.
Around 180 maps and goodie bags were handed out, with children enjoying the town-wide treasure hunt despite the less-than-ideal weather.
The hunt carried over across both Saturday and Sunday, with Santa stopping by for photos in Manifold Street.
SES’s Paddy the Platypus also got out on the streets, greeting children as they walked around and completed various activities.
Organiser Michelle Elijah said the atmosphere in the street was lovely.
“The sidewalk sale was good for our first attempt. Lots of people in the avenue, hoping most businesses turned the till after 6pm,” she said.
“The lights were awesome on the clocktower, was a great vibe.”
Ms Elijah extended her gratitude to all those that participated, as well as the many people who organised festive events and treats for the weekend.
“Thanks to Corangamite Shire for the bags, muchly appreciated Tammy,” she said.
“Thanks to the Uniting Church ladies for manning the street stall. Thanks to Kristy and helpers for giving out the bags.
“There were lots of children with face painting from IGA; thanks for organising Ebony.”
Ms Elijah also extended her thanks to Georgie Smith for organising Santa’s tour of Camperdown on the Camperdown CFA brigade truck on Sunday.
Santa’s appearances, alongside CFA’s Captain Koala, were a hit with children and adults alike with Captain Koala’s antics.
Ms Elijah congratulated the following winners of the treasure hunt prizes:
Sylvia, who won a bike;
Tommy, who was awarded a Sweet Giftz hamper;
Opie, who received an AFL Pack;
Georg, who won a squishmallow;
Maddi, who also won a squishmallow;
Octavia, who was awarded a squishmallow;
Ciaran, who received Mal’s picture, and;
Mary, who received a Paddy Platypus-themed prize.
