CAMPERDOWN’S Bridge Club dealt more hands as it hosted their Warrnambool counterpart for a bridge club meet on Wednesday.

The two clubs often mingle, with four members of Camperdown’s Bridge Club travelling to Warrnambool every Wednesday.

Camperdown Bridge Club president Gwen Hindhaugh said the decision to host bridge in Camperdown was “out of the blue”.

“Warrnambool have bridge down there three days a week, and their venue where they have it has been busy, so we said we’d host them up here,” she said.

“I’m a member down at Warrnambool, I go down there every Wednesday; in fact, there’s four of us here that go down to Warrnambool every Wednesday and now Warrnambool’s come down to us for the day.

“We do have a lot of visitors from Colac and Derrinallum. It’s just very social.”

Warrnambool Bridge Club president Tony Plevier said the Warrnambool club has not been to Camperdown for bridge since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s nice to be back,” he said.

“There’s about 12 of them here.

“Actually, we couldn’t fit anymore in.”

Mr Plevier said the club responded well to the change in venue, with Warrnambool Bridge Club member Kathy Hilder said it was “very exciting” and “fun”.

“It’s a different venue, and it’s nice to see come of the people form Camperdown come down to Warrnambool every week, so it’s nice to come back and come here instead and give them the opportunity to host it,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity.

“The president’s been very supportive.”
