DISTRICT Governor Lee-Ann Anselmo made her official visit to Camperdown Lions at its October dinner meeting.

She shared her goals and inspirational messages for the district with all present as well those of international president Brian Sheehan.

The district’s 64 club visitations are shared by the district governor and two vice-presidents.

New member Anni Skinner was inducted into the club by Lee-Ann, assisted by membership chair Judi Oakes.

Anni has attended meetings over the past eight months and brings the membership to 30.

The Alan J Holding Community Service Award is presented annually by the district governor, to a person selected by the club.

Club president Jan Smith outlined the comprehensive list of contributions made by recipient Tony Dupleix, who was then presented the award by district governor Lee-Ann.

Tony’s community involvement commenced in his early 20s and he has clocked up 40 years with the Camperdown Theatre Company, Leslie Manor CFA and Camperdown Hospital Auxiliary, of which he was made a Life Governor in 2004.

His other contributions include holding executive positions of the local Victorian Farmers Federation for a number of years, Camperdown Film Society committee, Sunnyside House board member for past four years and a regular judge at Lions Youth of the Year contests.

Tony’s expertise with sound and lighting sees him being in demand at many events, such as dance concerts, disability groups, Cooinda concerts, debutante balls, etc., all on a voluntary basis.

Tony was shocked and humbled to receive the award as it was a total surprise for him.

He spoke of the enjoyment he experiences from his involvements with a wide and varied section of the community.

Tony encouraged other to say ‘yes’ when opportunities arise.

Lee-Ann presented her personal bannerette to president Jan and received the Camperdown club bannerette in return.
