Carols set to return to Market Square
SANTA will be making a special appearance when the Mortlake Lions Club’s annual Christmas Carols returns this month.

The carols will this year be held on Friday, December 12 from 6pm at Market Square (corner of Officer Street and the Hamilton Highway, opposite Bates IGA).
Mortlake Lions Club president Heather Rowe said there would be no shortage of entertainment for the kids to enjoy.
“We’ll have the jumping castle, the merry-go-round and we’re even getting a games trailer from the shire which has games such as Monopoly,” she said.
“Wannon Creek Wildlife will be bringing wildlife for the kids to get an up-close look at snakes and other animals.
“There will be lots of things for the kids to do.”
Mrs Rowe said the carols would again feature performances of some of the most beloved Christmas carols from students and musicians hailing from Mortlake and surrounds, ensuring a local touch to the evening.
“There will be lots of food, lots of singing and we’ll have local musicians in addition to students from the schools,” she said.
“Mortlake College will have their showbags again, which last year were really popular.”
The Mortlake Lions Club Christmas Carols are bolstered each year through the club’s fundraising activities in a bid to provide an evening of family fun at no cost to those in attendance.
“We want to give the community and their families a free day to celebrate Christmas together,” Mrs Rowe said.
“Santa will be arriving with a bag of lollies so the kids will like that.”
Mrs Rowe said members of the Mortlake Lions Club hoped to see Market Square full of smiling faces to usher in the festive season.
“We hope to see everyone come and enjoy a free evening with activities for the kids, to support the town and have a lovely time together,” she said.
“This is our chance to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
