MORTLAKE opener Corey Rounds smashed his way to 72 runs in the Cats’ close tussle with Allansford Panmure last weekend.

Rounds, who faced 101 deliveries, put on a strong display with the bat on Saturday in a knock that included nine boundaries.

He was well supported on the scoreboard by division one captain Todd Lamont with 41 from 46 balls and Neil Kelly who contributed 20.

The Cats finished the day at 9/195 from their 45 overs in reply to host side, Allansford Panmure’s 8/197.

Best of the bowlers for Mortlake were Lamont with 3-39 from nine overs, Lachlan Higginson 2-38 off seven and Todd Robertson 2-42 off eight.

Currently sitting 10th on the Warrnambool District ladder with one win from six rounds, the Cats will be keen to notch up another victory when they take on Wesley Yambuk at Mortlake’s Farran Oval this weekend.
