Cats host league grand final
MORTLAKE’S DC Farran Oval played host to the grand final of the Warrnambool Moyne and District Cricket Association championship division last weekend.

Mortlake Cricket Club president Will Berryman said the Cats were honoured to host the two-day final between Allansford-Panmure and Hawkesdale.
“It was a great weekend for our club and a great weekend for cricket, in ideal weather conditions,” Berryman said.
“This was the first time we have hosted a grand final since the installation of our turf wicket about four seasons ago.
“In the past we had hosted some south west grand finals on a hard wicket.”
According to Berryman, the club received positive feedback over the weekend from both players and spectators on not only the condition of the ground but also the off-ground facilities at the reserve.
“We had some great all-round feedback from people there, including the facilities and everything we offered including catering,” he said.
“It was great to see so many club members, and non-club members there helping out with a range of jobs and to see members of the community here watching the game over the two days – it was certainly a fruitful weekend for the club and we hope to host many more finals in the future.”
The 2025/26 season will wind down for the Cats this weekend when it hosts its annual presentation day.
Junior presentations will begin at 4.30pm Saturday, followed by dinner and senior presentations.
“It’s been a great summer of cricket here at Mortlake and we’re already looking forward to next season.”
As for the result last weekend, Allansford-Panmure celebrated victory over Hawkesdale.
