Stay safe: A truck rollover on the Princes Highway has prompted a warning to drivers to be cautious when driving in difficult conditions.

At around 8am on Tuesday morning, a B-Double truck travelling through Boorcan on the Princes Highway towards Terang veered off the side of the road, just beyond the intersection to Roycrofts Road.

The B-double veered off the left-hand shoulder of the road, resulting in the rear trailer flipping on the uneven ground and the vehicle’s payload being lost.

The stretch of highway was closed for several hours as heavy-duty equipment was brought in to retrieve the load.

There were no injuries reported.

There was also a separate incident which occurred in Cobden at around the same time in which two trucks allegedly collided.

Cobden police station sergeant Craig Jenkins said investigations were still ongoing but the “ridiculously heavy” fog covering the region was a timely reminder for drivers to exercise caution.

“The message from police for all drivers in low light and heavy fog is to ensure they are driving in a safe and prudent manner relevant to the conditions,” he said.

“Fortunately, on this occasion, there were no injuries at either collision.

“We were on patrol at the time of those collisions and the fog was ridiculously heavy, so we believe that it may have been a contributing factor.

“However, people still need to ensure they obey the road rules and drive safety to the conditions.”
