CAMPERDOWN College’s primary and secondary campuses marked their annual Go Blue Day last Friday, raising funds for FightMND.

The day is usually held on the last day of term two to raise awareness and funds for motor neuron disease (MND).

Secondary campus Senior Representative Council co-ordinator Rachel Mann said the fundraiser was one of the most popular days on the students’ calendars, with many wearing blue and MND beanies for the day.

“At the senior campus the Senior Representative Council had on sale a barbecue lunch, icy poles and Killer Pythons,” she said.

“The main event was definitely the ice bucket challenge with several brave teachers and students willing to get an icy bucketing.

“Lots of fun and laughs were had as students lined up to bucket a teacher.

“We had a few extra students step up for the challenge to use up the leftover ice. Thanks to all who supported this and South West's Big Freeze who supplied the ice and buckets.”

The junior campus had similar activities, but also featured blue-iced doughnuts and a blue-themed scavenger hunt.

Junior School Council co-ordinator Darcie Seers said many brave teachers volunteered for the ice bucket challenge.

“Lots of fun and laughs were had as students eagerly awaited to either bucket their teacher or watch their teachers get bucketed,” she said.

“Thanks to all who supported this wonderful event, including South West's Big Freeze who supplied the ice and buckets and the Camperdown Bakery for supplying us with our blue iced donuts.”
