SATURDAY, October 21 saw perfect weather conditions for 29 mowers to assemble at the Frederick Street oval for the annual Camperdown College Mow Down event.
Racers came from across the state, from the South Australian border to Lakes Entrance.
It was a day full of spectacular racing, and the members of Vicmow congratulated Camperdown College on putting on a “fabulous event”.
Saturday was the first round of the Vicmow racing calendar and it didn't take long for the mower racing community to get into it.
There were some competitive and close heats on the day.
A couple of minor bingles made for some entertainment for the crowd.
Camperdown College vocational major (VM) coordinator Suzanne Maskell extended a thank you to the Vicmow committee, VM students, Camperdown College parents and friends Committee and event sponsors.
“We had five locals take home raffle prizes- Kristy Clarke, Roger Horspole, Liv Maskell Mark Boyd and Melanie Orr,” she said.
“Kona Kerr took out the College Cup by one point to Isaac Winsall - both boys did an incredible job on the mower and improved throughout the day.
“Vicki Angus took home the Spirit of the Mowdown Trophy for her commitment to assisting with the lap counting and scoring, which she has done since the events conception.
“Any funds raised continue to assist us to prepare a meal each term for the Uniting Church's Community Meal.”
