Celebrating community connection
RESIDENTS are being invited to St Patrick’s Primary School for a community celebration picnic.
Entering its third year, the community celebration will see games, face painting, live music and food and drink available to honour the school’s patron saint St Patrick.
Deputy principal Jessica Courtney said the event began in 2024 when families first brought dinner and blankets to the school for a relaxed get-together on the lawn.
“Last year we built on that success with free Timboon Ice Cream and food and drinks available to purchase, plus live music performed by talented past student Aidan Vallejo,” she said.
“This year we will hopefully see more of a variety of food available and some games and activities for the younger children.
“Our aim is to bring together all members of our school and the wider community to celebrate St Patrick’s and the strong sense of connection we share.
“We are hoping to build on the event each year – making it bigger and better.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy live music, activities for children and time together with friends, family and neighbours.”
The celebration is scheduled for 5.30-6.30pm on Friday, March 20, with attendees encouraged to wear green to celebrate St Patrick’s Day which is on Tuesday, March 17.
Ms Courtney said the school will be hosting a variety of activities during the day to celebrate their patron saint and Irish culture.
“The day finishes with a fun talent show called ‘Green Faces’, where students in Years Three–Six prepare and perform an act for the whole school,” she said.
“The evening picnic continues the celebration by inviting families, parish members and the broader community to come together in a relaxed setting with games, music and food.
“It’s a lovely way to finish the day and celebrate the spirit of St Patrick’s together.
“St Patrick’s has always had a strong connection between the school, parish and wider community, and this event is a chance to celebrate that.
“It’s also a way for us to celebrate the feast of St Patrick and the values of welcome, community and faith that sit at the heart of our school.”
