Celebrating the season

SOCIAL support clients of the Josie Black Community Health Centre’s social support services got in to the spirit of finals football with the return of the popular footy day last week.
Flags, banners, jumpers and scarves were all on display as clients donned their colours to celebrate all things Aussie Rules.
Plenty of fun and games were on offer with a handball competition and balloon dartboard serving as the highlight.
Terang and Mortlake Health Services client services assistant Jen Brittain said the annual footy tipping and luncheon had returned for the first time since the COVID-19pandemic began.
“We’ve had a wonderful response,” she said.
“This year we had 21 participants, up from the eight to 10 in previous years.
“Due to it being our first in a while we wanted to have it bigger than previously, so we opted for a lunch rather than just amorning tea.”
Barbra Rees was recognised as the winner of the Terang Day Centre Monday, Wednesday, Friday group footy tipping competition, finishing the season with 143 points and a narrow lead over Frank Riordan.
“We display the leader board up until round 18,” Ms Brittain said.
“Everyone is kept in the dark from then on so there can be a surprise in the reveal.
“It adds to the fun and brings a bit of a competitive edge.”
