Celebrations on the Mortlake greens

THE Mortlake greens have been a hive of activity over the past week.

In midweek pennant, the 10th round was played in division three against Port Fairy.

Mortlake 1 Purple (div 3) def. Port Fairy 3 Red 44-30 (away).

George Draffen lost to Pat Leddin 17-21, Dianne Robertson def. Jennifer Blackmore 27-9.

Mortlake Purple is in sixth place, four points clear of Port Fairy 3 Red in seventh and five points behind fifth placed Timboon 3 Red.

Midweek pennant breaks for Christmas and New Year, returning on Tuesday, January 14.

Tuesday social pennant also played last week.

In round nine Mortlake Blue had the bye and Mortlake White defeated Terang 47-25 at home.

Mortlake Blue is still top of the table with 68 points and Mortlake White is now one point behind, with Camperdown in third on 58 points.

This week for round 10 it’s the Battle of the Mortlake’s – White vs Blue and the results will have to wait until after the break.

Tuesday social pennant also resumes on the same day as midweek pennant, with Mortlake Blue playing Timboon and Mortlake White playing Camperdown (both at home).

Round nine of weekend pennant:

Mortlake Blue (div. 1) def. Timboon 1 Gold 62-60 (away).

Darren Grant def. Peter Baker 25-15, George Draffen def. Mick Gaut 22-21 and Les Johnson lost to Brett Mungean 15-24.

Mortlake Blue is now in third place on the ladder, 12 points behind second placed City 1 Red and seven points ahead of fourth placed Warrnambool 1 Gold.

Mortlake White (div. 2) defeated City 3 White 64-54 at home.

Colin Inverarity def. Steph Hunt 18-16, Paul Delaney drew Gary Smart 23 all and Richard Draffen def. Ken Bell 23-15.

Mortlake White is now in fourth place, two points behind third placed Koroit 2 Saints and two points ahead of fifth placed Warrnambool 4 Green.

Mortlake Gold (div. 3) defeated Port Fairy 4 Green 39-37 (away).

Dianne Robertson lost to Jenny Blackmore 10-18 and Don Murray def. Graeme Kershaw 29-19.

Mortlake Gold is still in fourth place, eight points ahead of fifth placed Port Fairy 4 Green and 10 points behind third placed City 10 Black and second placed Dunkeld 2 White (same points).

Weekend pennant round 10 selections and the last round before Christmas (subject to change):

Mortlake 1 Blue (div. 1) will be at home to Dennington 1 Jets.
