The youngster, who captains Pomborneit’s under 13s, became the club’s youngest ever century maker at senior level, beating a record believed to be held by a 16 year-old George Harlock back in 1936.

In the division three games on the weekend, Pomborneit Gold had a seven wicket win at Woorndoo, while Pomborneit Maroon had a seven wicket win over Camperdown at South Purrumbete.

At Woorndoo the Tigers batted first, dismissed for 119 in the 40th over.

Sam Tolland led the bowling with his off-spinners, taking 3/28 from eight overs.

In his second game of senior cricket, Ollie West took 2/7 from seven overs.

Under 14 player Wally Rees made his senior debut and took 1/3 from four overs, while women’s player Janelle Whitehead, playing alongside husband Tim, took 1/3 from one over on her senior men’s debut.

Gold passed Woorndoo’s score in the 24th over for the loss of three wickets.

Tim Whitehead made 50 retired from 47 balls, with opener Matt Richardson making 27 from 30 balls.

Camperdown batted first at South Purrumbete and made 5/211 from 40 overs.

Daniel Stones, Jonty Raven, Hugo Saarikallio and Mark Boyd took a wicket each, with opening bowler Andy Raven most impressive with 0/22 from eight overs.

When Maroon openers Craig Boyd and Jonty Raven were dismissed for 19 and 15 respectively, the team was 2/35.

Enter Bailey Fox.

The 13 year old joined Mark Boyd at the crease, the pair putting on 67 for the third wicket before Boyd was out for 33 from 34 balls.

Fox was joined by Daniel Stones, the pair carrying Maroon to victory in the 37th over with an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 112.

With six needed to win, Fox was on 93.

Two consecutive fours saw the young batsman not only bring up the win, but also his maiden century.

Fox scored 101 not out from 104 balls, hitting 10 fours.

Stones was unbeaten with 42 from 39 balls in the win.

This week’s division three games will see Gold play Cobden at Pomborneit, while Maroon play Ecklin at Ecklin.
