Challenging conditions for bowlers
DESPITE the weather, Mortlake bowlers participated in the second last event on the bowls calendar for the season last weekend.
Thirteen members turned out for the Les Risk Memorial Day on Sunday.
Despite the trying conditions, there were no two-game winners when the third game was played.
After a hard-fought tussle, the winners on 70 points were Wilma McDonald, Kevin Johnson and Max Heard (s).
Runners-up with 60 points were the team of Frank Robertson, Gert MacDonald and Ian MacDonald (s).
This is the second time Wilma has played in the winning side, along with Max's fifth win in the day's long history with the club.
Congratulations to them all and thanks to the Risk and Robertson families for the day.
Afternoon tea was delicious and no-one went home hungry.
The last bowls event for the season is the Open Club Fours and presentation day on Saturday, April 20.
Spots are filling up and single entries are most welcome.
The signup sheet for the Club Fours is in the signup box near the main entrance.
Entries will close at 7pm on Friday, April 19.
Autumn social bowls is back and now on Tuesdays from 1pm (weather pending).
This is a great way to start your pre-season preparation.
A reminder the club’s annual meeting will be on Thursday, May 9 at 7.30pm.
Information will be sent out to members shortly, and all are asked to consider what they can contribute to the success of the club.
