Challenging conditions for mid-week bowlers
CAMPERDOWN bowlers welcomed the Colac Lakes club for Tuesday midweek pennant.
The match was played in challenging conditions, however there was no rain.
Ron Simcox, David Wilson, Pamela Atchison and Les Pearson played on the show rink and didn’t disappoint.
They scored on 15 ends before the team, skipped by E. Riches, won an end by one shot, 33-1.
With only five ends to go, Ron’s team won four of the five to win 40-2.
Vicki Brebner, Barry Atchison, Kerry Henderson and Ray Bourke had a tight contest all day on rink three.
B. Panther’s rink was leading 6-1 by the fifth end but by the 10th Vicki’s team had clawed its way back to lead 10-6.
Colac scored on the first three ends to lead 14-12 but Vicki’s team rallied and scored a total four shots in two ends to win the game, 16-14.
Maria van Someren, Henry Henderson, Graeme Chamberlain and Donna Watts were the last rink against M. Middleton’s team.
The game was tight from start to finish, with the biggest margin being six shots to the home side.
By the 16th end Camperdown still had the lead 17-11.
The Colac team handled the wind better and scored on three ends while containing Camperdown to two.
Final score was a 20-17 win to Camperdown.
Ladder – Camperdown 120, Camperdown Golf 63, Colac 4 63, City 3, 60.
Out of the four are Winchelsea and Central 2.
Next week Camperdown will face Central Bowling away which will be no easy task playing on their home carpet.
