Championship side eyes finals
WITH the final round of the Warrnambool Moyne and District cricket home and away season this weekend, Mortlake’s Premier side is now out of finals contention.

The Cats currently sit eighth on the league ladder with three wins to their name and will face sixth-placed Allansford-Panmure at home in a two-day match this weekend.
The Cats will be hoping to end their 2024/25 summer season on a high, coming off a narrow loss to Merrivale last weekend.
The round 10 clash at Merrivale saw the Cats sent in to bat after losing the toss.
Middle order batsman Saman Gonawala contributed an unbeaten 93 from 188 deliveries, which included an impressive 11 boundaries.
The team finished its 8 overs at 9/184.
In reply, the Tigers reached 10/185 in the 80th over, with the Cats’ Chamika Feranando the best of the bowlers with figures of 3/41 from 18 overs.
Kalhan Sineth finished the day with 2/35 while Clinton Baker was also handy with the ball, taking 2/40 off 16.
The Cats will rest their finals campaign hopes on their division one championship side which is currently holding fourth spot with seven wins under their belts.
The side will take on top-of-the-table Noorat Terang on the Terang Turf in a one-day match this Saturday.
