EMERGENCY services were called to a HAZMAT incident at Cobdenhealth on Monday.

Cobden Police Senior Constable Ash Pitt said at about 3pm were notified of an incident.

“There was a HAZMAT chemical incident that occurred about 9.30am this morning,” he said.

“There was a number of staff that were feeling unwell during the day.

“They (staff) have tried to ventilate the area and then called 000 to get the quality of air checked to make sure the air was safe.”

Snr Const Pitt said it was believed two chemicals had mixed in the air causing the incident.

He said the impacted area of the facility was an office space and not a residential part.

“It has been shut off from the rest of the facility,” Snr Const Pitt said.

A number of CFA units, Police and HAZMAT from Warrnambool attended the incident.
