Chocolyn community receives AED
CHOCOLYN’S CFA members are proudly promoting Ambulance Victoria’s ‘Call Push Shock’ campaign through the installation of a new defibrillator (AED) at the station.
The Chocolyn brigade has mounted the AED, purchased through funds provided by the community, at the station this week.
Brigade representative Leigh Harry said the
brigade made the decision based on its strong ties to the Chocolyn community.
“The generous financial support of the brigade from Chocolyn residents and landholders over the years highlighted the role we play in our community,” he said.
“This contribution, whilst we hope it is never required, will strengthen the links we have with the Chocolyn people.”
The AED installation further strengthens the brigade’s partnership with Ambulance Victoria and the GoodSam program, which connects people using the app to patients in need of CPR and/or defibrillation in their area.
“Every minute a patient doesn’t get CPR/Defib. their chance of survival falls by 10 per cent,” Mr Harry said.
“When bystanders or GOODSAM responders take action – the survival rates double.”
The AED at the CFA station will be available 24/7 if required.
