Close one for Knights
AFTER two rounds of South West Cricket, the Cobden Knights are eager to notch up their first division one win of the new season.
Last weekend saw the Knights take on an in-form Bookaar and after winning the toss, elected to bat first on the Camperdown College oval.
Opener Matthew Boyle hit a quick seven from 10 deliveries before being caught in the field, while Parker Walsh was dismissed for one, leaving the Knights reeling at 2/11.
Kaplan McCann contributed 27 runs before he was caught, while team-mate Campbell Walsh hit a creditable 39.
For the Knights, Edmund Walsh was the highest run contributor, adding 43 to the scoreboard before he was bowled by Bookaar’s Fraser Lucas – the Knights reaching 10/166 in the 48th overall.
In reply, Bookaar managed 5/169 by the 38th over, with Eddie Lucas (44) and Tim Fitzgerald (38) proving effective with the bat.
Cobden’s Darcy Meade proved the most effective with the ball, finishing the day with figures of 2/29 off five overs while Jackson Rock took 1/38 and Matthew Harkin 1/21.
This weekend will see the Knights’ division one side travel to Boorcan to take on the Dragons.
