Close results on the tables

ROUND six of Terang Table Tennis saw Young@Heart lose its first match of the season, The Unknowns strengthen its position at the top of the ladder and Snapper@Crofts hold a spot in the top four.


Lefties, or should they be called Leftovers, consisted of two sub players as illness and work meant their two regular players were unavailable.

Lefties defeated Young@Heart 3-2 with all matches being tough battles.

Dan Galea and Paul Healey filled in and both players won a singles match and combined to win the important doubles.

Colin Venn won both his singles for the losing team and had a close encounter with Healey to win in the fifth game 7-11, 15-13, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7.

Snapper@Crofts had a strong 4-1 victory against Total Tools.

Vesha Chapagai won both his singles, which included defeating Tyler Smith in five games 1-11, 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7.

Vesha teamed up with Paul Healey to win the doubles and a singles.

Tyler won a singles for the losers.

The Unknowns maintained its top position on the ladder with a 3-2 win against Nelson.

Michael Pearson and Peter Mania both won a singles and the doubles together.

Michael provided a good battle against the number one player of the competition Trevor McDowell, losing 8-11, 12-10, 5-11, 6-11.

Trevor won both his singles games.

This week will see the halfway mark of the season with the singles championships to be played next week.
