MORE than 40 local children had the chance to test their hockey skills during a ‘come and try session’ at Mockridge Park last weekend.

Corangamite Hockey Club kicked off the 2023 winter season last Saturday with a Hookin2Hockey skills session for its younger participants.

Visiting professional hockey coach Greg Walton led the group’s more experienced modified competition players in drills, fitness activities and game play.

The club looks forward to more new and returning players joining the final come and try session this Saturday from 9.30am.

Pat Robertson of the Rotary Club of Camperdown also presented club president Kylie Spokes with a generous donation on Saturday morning.

The hockey club assisted Rotary with its fundraising efforts at the Camperdown Show last year.

This was a great example of cooperation between volunteer organisations to achieve common goals and to provide services to the local community.
