Club set to harness the Christmas spirit
THE Terang Harness Racing Club is set to celebrate the festive season with a bumper evening of racing next Monday.
The club will host Christmas at the Trots on Monday, December 22 with the gates to open from 5.30pm.
Entry is free with a full racing program scheduled in addition to trade sites, raffles, an on-course bookmaker, upstairs seated dining with a two-course meal and silks room canteen.
There will be plenty to keep the kids entertained between races with an animal nursery, face painting, games and even a visit from Santa.
“Our Christmas meeting is shaping up to be a massive night,” Terang Harness Racing Club president Chris O’Connor said.
“There will be children’s games, face painting, Santa visits and giveaways alongside a strong night of racing.
“The Raffertys Pick Five has jackpotted to $3250 for those on course, and with free entry and a bookie on track it promises to be a great way to kick off the festive season.”
Mr O’Connor said 2025 had proven an incredible year for harness racing with a slew of wins among local names and strong attendance trackside.
“What an eventful year 2025 has been for our club and local stables,” he said.
“Terang stables have enjoyed a particularly successful few weeks highlighted by Keayang Zahara and Jason Lee winning the Group One The Great Square in Queensland.
“This was followed on Saturday by another outstanding achievement with Terang stables winning both the Fillies Breeders Crown Group One Trotting Finals, as well as the Group One three-year-old Trotters, Colts and Geldings Breeders Crown Final.
“Congratulations to Amy Day, Antti Ruokonen, Jason, Paddy and Marg Lee on the outstanding results.”
