Clubs roll up sleeves for farmers
MEMBERS of the Camperdown Football Netball Club and the Boorcan Cricket Club came together last Sunday to help farmers impacted by the Laralee fire to get back on track.

Between 50-60 club members turned out to visit a number of farms which lost fencing and land in the January 27 fire, cleaning up burnt fences and helping with other clean-up jobs.
Camperdown Football Netball Club joint president Eddie Lucas said the clubs were able to get a number of jobs out of the way for farmers to start getting their farms back on track.
“It just came from a couple of people reaching out to us to see if we would be interested in helping,” he said.
“It was a no brainer for us as a club to give back to people in the community who have been involved in the football club over time.
“I think it was fantastic from everyone involved just to able to show up and help out where needed.
“That’s the beauty of being involved in community sports – it’s a testament to the club and the people involved.”
Mr Lucas said farmers were grateful for the assistance, with one family’s young child giving them a painting she did to thank them for their work.
“I think they were a little bit overwhelmed with the support they received and very thankful at the same time,” he said.
“They can keep moving forward in getting their farms back on track and up and going again.”
