Twenty-five motorcycles, ridden by members of the Camperdown Motorcycle Club, and a number of cars travelled around as part of a memorial ride to honour a much-loved member of the club.

Club member Sam Argyle said the ride was in memory of member Ricky Walters, who died two years ago at the age of 51.

“Ricky was a very much cherished member of our club,” he said.

“Rick was as rough as hessian undies, but he was a fantastic member of the community.

“He used to have a home maintenance business, and when people were sick and in hospital he’d go around and mow lawns for them without them knowing - they’d come home, and their garden would be all fixed up.

“He used to help people – when things got a bit tough for them, he was there to help them.”

The collection of bikes, which ranged from trail bikes to Harley Davidsons, travelled to Mortlake, Woolsthorpe and Caramut before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Mr Argyle said, while Mr Walters’ family followed the ride in a car, there was also another part of him at the ride.

“The green bike that led the pack was Rick’s old bike – somebody gets nominated to ride that each year until his grandson’s old enough to ride it,” he said.
