CORANGAMITE Shire councillors have appointed an interim chief executive officer to lead council as the search for a new chief executive officer begins.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein said Michael Tudball will act in this role during the recruitment process, after being appointed during last week’s ordinary meeting of council.

“Michael has over 20 years’ experience in senior leadership roles in local and state government,” she said.

“Certainly no stranger to local government, he was chief executive officer of Southern Grampians Shire Council from 2016 until 2021.

“Most recently he has been Regional Director Barwon South West at Regional Roads Victoria.

“Michael has a passion for regional and rural communities.

“He is a well-regarded leader with vast experience in growth area planning and delivery, along with significant stakeholder and community engagement.”

Outgoing CEO Andrew Mason concluded his role last Friday, January 27, and will take over the top job at Warrnambool City Council from late February.

Mr Tudball began his role as acting chief executive officer on Monday this week.
