Coastal awards to open soon
THE Victorian Marine and Coastal Council (VMaCC) has announced nominations will soon open for the prestigious Victorian Marine and Coastal Awards.
This years’ awards will recognise and celebrate the many people, organisations, communities and partnerships contributing to the sustainable management and protection of the marine and coastal environment in Victoria.
The 2024 Awards ceremony will be presented by Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos, on Wurundjeri Country at Showtime Events Centre in South Wharf, Melbourne (Naarm).
VMaCC hopes to receive a diverse range of nominations which reflect the work done to maintain and enhance the marine and coastal environment.
Nominations will be open to all Victorian individuals and organisations, under the following categories:
Leadership in Climate Adaptation and Resilience;
Excellence in Marine and Coastal Design or Development;
Distinction in Biodiversity and Ecosystem Conservation;
Inspiring Community Engagement and Education;
Marine and Coastal Stewardship – by private landowners or public lease/licence holders;
Recognising Individual Achievement and Emerging Leadership; and
Embedding Traditional Owner Cultural Practices in Management.
