Cobden Angling Club appoints committee
THE Cobden Angling Club Inc held its annual general meeting (AGM) recently, giving members a chance to reflect on the past year.
After secretary Les Blake read the minutes of the previous AGM and the treasurer presented his finance report the club moved on to the election of office bearers.
Outgoing president Bryan Poole thanked all members for their ongoing support throughout the year.
“Your commitment to fundraising, attending working bees and helping with the kids activity day was wonderful,” he said.
Mr Poole also thanked Neville Robertson and life member David Staggard for their attention to the mowing, shed extension and general maintenance of facilities at the club rooms.
He hoped all members enjoyed the upcoming year.
Mr Blake thanked treasurer Russell Smith for his “valuable financial leadership” with the clubs funds.
He also thanked members for supporting the club’s activities and competitions.
Mr Blake hoped the weather was more cooperative when the club held competitions.
Mr Staggard took the chair for the election of office bearers.
He congratulated Mr Poole and his team for the job they have done leading the club throughout the year.
Mr Staggard called for nominations for the office bearer positions.
Mr Poole was re-elected unopposed as president, as were Mr Blake and Mr Smith as secretary and treasurer respectively.
Members were reminded the club holds competitions each month with these being displayed in the Cobden Post Office window.
Club trips are also organised for Nelson and Narrawong.
Meetings continue to be held at 8pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Lake Elingamite clubrooms.
All members or people interested in joining the club are welcome to come along to these meetings.
The club’s annual trophy presentation night will be held on Friday, August 2 at the Cobden Golf Club with meals being served from 6.30pm.
All members, their families and friends are welcome to attend.
