Cobden athletes shine
COBDEN Technical School students have shone bright at the recent Greater Western Region Athletics event.

Conditions were perfect in Ballarat for the day’s competition, held on Thursday, October 10.
Rhys Sargood had a great day out, breaking two of his existing under 14 boys’ records, setting a new record in the high jump with 1.70m and a new 200m time of 25.29 seconds.
Rhys already holds the under 14 boys CTS records for both triple and long jump.
He came home with gold in the 100m, 200m and high jump events, along with bronze in the triple jump and a seventh placing in javelin.
Several other Cobden students also performed incredibly well on the day.
Harry Roberts (under 13 male) finished 6th in the 100m, 5th 200m, 4th long jump, 6th triple jump and second in the discus.
Xander Weel (under 14 male) finished seventh in the 1500m.
Korie Hester-Emery (under 16 male) finished second in the discus.
Riley Beames (under 15 male) finished fourth in the 800m and ninth in 1500m.
Rhys qualified for the School Sport Victoria State Athletic Championships which were held in Melbourne last Monday (October 21).
