Cobden Bowls celebrates 75 years
COBDEN Bowling Club celebrated the 75th anniversary of its formation on Sunday.

COBDEN Bowling Club celebrated the 75th anniversary of its formation on Sunday.
The afternoon began with a game of bowls with all players using old-style bowls, causing some hilarity among players who now use more modern types.
The afternoon was opened in the club rooms where a great deal of memorabilia was displayed and which everyone showed a great interest in.
The president Geoff Work welcomed special guests Jo Beard from the Corangamite Shire Council and president of Bowls VictoriaPeter Inglis.
The three present life members Keith Simmonds, Cliff Cobbledick and Trevor Roberts were given special mention and a certificate and badge was presented to Keith Simonds on reaching his 90th year.
Richard McVilly gave a brief history of the club followed by the birthday cake cutting by Keith Simonds.
The president thanked everyone for their attendance and afternoon tea was served.
The afternoon was a great success thanks to all the hard work put in by the club members of a very proud and successful club.
