Cobden Kindness Post launched
A new community initiative encouraging kindness, connection and support has officially launched in Cobden, with the unveiling of the Cobden Kindness Post at the Cobden Visitor Information Centre.
The initiative was made possible through Australia Post grant funding, after Progressing Cobden was nominated for the grant by the Cobden Australia Post Office.
The project invites community members to write simple messages of encouragement, kindness or support on specially designed postcards, which can then be posted into the bright red Kindness Post box located at the centre.
The messages will be distributed throughout the community to people who may benefit from a positive connection – including residents in aged care, community members experiencing a difficult time and others who may simply need a reminder their community cares.
Progressing Cobden president Misty Angus said the initiative was designed to create simple but meaningful moments of connection within the community.
“A small message really can make a big difference,” she said.
“The Kindness Post is about reminding people they are valued, supported and not alone.
“Sometimes a few kind words can completely change someone’s day.
“We hope this encourages people of all ages to take a moment to spread kindness and help strengthen community connection in Cobden.”
Community members can pick up free kindness postcards from locations throughout Cobden or directly from the Visitor Information Centre.
Participants are encouraged to write words of encouragement, uplifting messages, thank you notes, positive thoughts and simple acts of kindness.
The initiative aims to strengthen community wellbeing and encourage people of all ages to participate, from school students through to older residents.
Progressing Cobden thanked the Cobden Australia Post Office for nominating the organisation for the grant opportunity, along with Australia Post for supporting the project and helping bring the initiative to life for the community.
The Cobden Kindness Post is now open and available during Visitor Information Centre opening hours.
