MEMBERS of the Cobden and District Orchid Club have had a successful few weeks.

Club members took home a number of awards from recent shows at Warrnambool Orchid Club and last weekend at Colac Orchid Club.

She said many members received placings and Champions in different categories at both recent shows.

“Congratulations to David Staggard for a Champion Australian Native hybrid Orchid, Anita Evans for Champion Standard Cymbidium “green” also Champion Intermediate Cymbidium,” Mrs Robertson said.

“Congratulations to John and Cynthia Whitewood Champion Paphiopedilum, Champion Specimen “All Genera” and Champion Zygopetalum.

“Congratulations to all our other members who received placings including Rose Hughes, Don and Betty Stevenson, Rhonda Alexander, Denise and Neville Robertson and Lynette Michell.”

The Cobden and District Orchid Club is having its Annual Orchid Show this weekend at the Cobden Civic Hall.

The show, which is open to the public to enjoy, will be held on Saturday between 9.30am to 4 pm and Sunday between 10 am to 3pm.

Admission is $5 per person.

Mrs Robertson invited community members to head along and look through a wide variety of orchids on display.

She said it would also be an opportunity for interested members to find out more about growing orchids as well as how to get involved in the local club.

“There will be plant sales and light refreshments available,” Mrs Robertson said.

“Flowering Orchid’s from Bellarine Orchid Farm will be there along with a porcelain painting demonstration and sales by Barb Porter.”
