Cobden orchid club celebrates birthday
COBDEN and District Orchid Club members gathered to celebrate the club’s 36th birthday recently.
Club president Denise Robertson said the club, which currently had 33 members, has been successful over the past year.
“We have had success with many awards at numerous Orchid shows including the Mid-year Country Challenge Show, plus Warrnambool Orchid Club Show and Colac Orchid Club Show and finishing with our own Annual Show,” she said.
“Our annual show this year we were fortunate to be supported with both Warrnambool and Colac Orchid Clubs, which were a big part of our weekend success.
“We had 18 stands which filled the Cobden Civic Hall, where we received many favourable comments.”
The group’s next meeting will be held on Friday, April 12 at 7pm at the Heytesbury Room, Cobden Civic Hall.
Mrs Robertson said the guest speaker will be Murray Whiting and the wider community is invited to attend.
