COBDEN and District Orchid Club enjoyed a successful show weekend recently.

COBDEN and District Orchid Club enjoyed a successful show weekend recently.

Club president Denise Robertson said a number of members received awards and placings for their displays.

“A very special award was presented to Rod and Sandra Dunn for their champion sarcochilus Hartmannii - this plant received a Highly Commended Certificate and also received the Grand Champion of our show,” she said.

“Reserve Champion Orchid was Anita Evans for her Oncidium and Champion Cymbidium was also won by Anita Evans.

“Champion Australian Native Hybrid winner was Don and Betty Stevenson, Champion Australian Native Species was won by Rod and Sandra Dunn. Champion Masdevallia was won by Michael and Bernadette Matthews, Champion Seedling was won by Rod and Sandra Dunn. Champion Species (not Australian) was won by Michael and Bernadette Matthews and Champion Any Other Genera was won by Anita Evans.”

Best Specimum and Champion Paphiopedilum was also won by Michael and Bernadette Matthews.

The Mavis Rethus Memorial was won by Rose Hughes and The Bev Bant Memorial was won by Don and Betty Stevenson.

Best Display Open was awarded to Rhonda Alexander and Graeme Paech.

Best Display Intermediate - Merrilyn Buck, Best Display Novice - Rose Hughes and Best Table Top Display Open — John and Cynthia Whitewood.
Best Table Top Display Intermediate - Merrilyn Buck, Best Table Top Display Novice - Rose Hughes and Best Mini Display - Paul Horsnell.

Best Theme - Katie Hansford, Best Under 16 Display - Katie Hansford and OSCOV Medal - Paul Horsnell.

Mrs Robertson said a number of club members received placings across the show

“A huge congratulations to all our winners and many thanks for your support for our show,” she said.

“This year we had 18 stands plus two mini displays.

“Our club received many favourable comments on our display with the hall full of many beautiful and different types of Orchid’s.”
