Cobden pays their respects on Anzac Day
THE cloudy weather and rain did not deter Cobden attendees from an Anzac Day memorial service last Friday as a crowd gathered to pay their respects at 11am in front of the Cobden Memorial.

The service was organised by the 1st Cobden Scout Group, with the young scouts raising the flag and handing out wreaths to community group members for the wreath laying ceremony.
Scout leader Sarah Canavan said the Anzac Day service was an important tradition to both the scouts and the wider community.
“It’s just the community’s way to pay respect to the men and women who served,” she said.
“Cobden Scouts have taken a part in organising the Anzac Day memorial service for at least 20 years.
“We had around 15 scouts here today taking part.”
A large number of wreaths were laid at the Cobden Memorial to honour those who have served, and three returned service members from Cobden also participated in the ceremony.
