Cobden Probus Club Notes
COBDEN Probus Club had 29 members and 10 apologies for their October meeting.

We had four members celebrate their birthdays in October. Val M, Pam S, and Kevin D – and a very special 90th Birthday to Monica N.
Happy birthday to you all.
Our guest speakers for October were Wendy Matheson and Heather Walsh from the Cobden Information Centre.
The Information Centre was formed in 2016 – where 20 people attended, and they formed a committee of six people.
The Cobden Roadhouse offered their unused dining room.
A dump point was put in and free camping.
After installing a safety driveway with petrol for transports, that put a stop to the free camping.
The Cobden Golf Club stepped in and offered space for camping with the entrance from Bond Street, which has proved very successful.
The Information Centre is under the umbrella of Progressing Cobden.
The new Information Centre moved to the old Commonwealth Bank building in 2019.
The centre is run by a small band of volunteers who are keeping the doors open.
Many talented people of the district have put their produce in the centre for sale including sewing, knitting, crocheting, patchwork quilts, dresses, jumpers and much more.
It is well worth the browse.
Heather spoke of the Pioneer Park, saying it was “preserving the past for future”, where there are 13 buildings which hold a lovely legacy.
They hold numerous activities, swap meetings, markets etc, and everyone is most welcome to come and check it all out.
President Trevor presented a small gift of appreciation to both ladies and on behalf of the Cobden Probus Club thanked them for their generous contribution to the Cobden community.
Our next meeting is Thursday, November 13 at 10am in the Heytesbury Room Cobden Civic Hall.
All most welcome to attend.
