Cobden resealing works complete
CORANGAMITE Shire Council has been busy resealing roads across Cobden in recent weeks.
The works which total 1.2 kilometres in Cobden have been completed as part of the annual road resealing program.
Shire mayor Kate Makin said 66 kilometres of local roads would be resealed across the shire this financial year.
She said the figure represented about seven per cent of the shire’s sealed local road network.
“Council maintains 914 kilometres of sealed local roads which need periodic sealing to maintain the surface and stop water getting in and weakening the underlying pavement,” Cr Makin said.
“The new surface has a lifespan of about 15 years, but all of our local roads are resurfaced well before their use-by date.”
Roads to be resealed were Shenfield Street, Parrott Street, Tarrant Street, McKenzie Street, Adams Street and the Victoria Street Service Road.
