COBDEN residents should keep an eye on their letter boxes this week – with 20 households expected to have a golden feeling.

Members of the Cobden Rotary Club have initiated a heartwarming “feel good” plan to support local Cobden businesses and bring some happiness to 20 local residents.

Club president Mark Towner said the effects of COVID-19 on both local businesses and residents “has been quite profound”.

He said Cobden Rotary Club wants to show its support for all sectors of the community and “deliver some much needed fun and good will”.

Much like Willy Wonka, Cobden Rotary Club members are going to deliver 20 Golden Tickets to 20 lucky households.

The 20 Cobden addresses chosen randomly will receive a Golden Ticket in their letterbox on Friday enabling that household to spend $50 at a Cobden business of their own choice.

Mr Towner said the initiative had a number of benefits for the Cobden community.

“The cost of $1000 to the Cobden Rotary Club will return much greater value through greater spending in businesses and spreading joy to the lucky residents,” he said.

“The Rotary Club is really happy to support important welfare initiatives in our community.

“I’m really thankful that our members and partners can come up with initiatives like the Golden Ticket”.

Cobden residents should check their letterboxes on Friday, October 23 to see if they have received a Golden Ticket.

Residents without letterboxes will need to check under their front door.
