Cobden to celebrate
THE organisers of Cobden’s annual Christmas event are hoping to see lots of colourful costumes at this year’s event.

Progressing Cobden committee member said this year’s celebrations will be held at Apex Park on Sunday, December 15.
“We’ve seen in other events, such as Halloween, that kids and even some adults too, love to dress up, so we thought that we’d try a “Dress up for Christmas” theme this year,” she said.
“So, it will be fun to see what people come up with.”
The event, which is being held between 4.30pm and 7pm will also feature music from local band “Rockit”, and the Corangamite Shire’s lawn games, which include connect 4, totem tennis, a bean bag toss, table tennis and jenga.
“We are hoping that with the games, Christmas graffiti, which will be painting or drawing on calico to make colourful banners, a selfie scavenger hunt and looking for ‘Elfie’ will provide plenty of entertainment for everyone,” Mrs Cowley said.
“Not forgetting a visit from Santa too, of course.”
The popular annual event will also include food, ice-cream, hot and cold drinks, a spinning wheel, the announcements of the winners of the best house lights and shop window decorations, and the Monster Shopper Draw, with prizes worth over $1500.
This year, the winner of the main prize, who must be present, will take home $500 worth of Cobden shopping vouchers.
“We’ve adjusted the time for the event this year,” Mrs Cowley said.
“So that those who like to go to Carols by Candlelight, which is at 7.30pm in the Civic Hall, will be able to go from one event to the other, without much of a time-lag between them.”
Tickets for the Monster Shopper Draw are now in Cobden businesses and to enter you just need to shop in the business for a free entry into the draw.
