COMMUNITY members got a better understanding of how Cobdenhealth is going at the annual general meeting (AGM) last week.

Leading Healthcare took over management of Cobdenhealth in April this year, with Bill Tsimis the new chief executive officer.

Since then, Leading Healthcare managing director Adam Sevdalis said over the past four to five months operations had stabilised.

“We’ve made some critical inroads to key expense areas,” he said.

Mr Sevdalis said more than 40 people attended the (AGM).

“One of the things that came out at the meeting is that we have more local staff, people coming back or people being attracted to come and work at Cobdenhealth,” he said.

“I think people were feeling a lot more optimistic about the future of Cobdenhealth and can see that change is on the way.”

Mr Sevdalis said the service would continue to look at where improvements can be made.

“One of Bill’s catchcries is “everything needs to be an opportunity”,” he said.

Mr Tsimis said he was pleased with how the AGM went and the interest from the community.

“It was good; we had a good turn out from the community as well,” he said.

“We explained what had transpired in the last year and there was a lot of discussion about how we’ve developed a pretty strong team.

“It’s (Cobdenhealth) heading in the right direction.”

Mr Tsismis said the executive was “clear on what we want to work through”.

“One thing that come through is how important the health service is to the community,” he said.
