Cold conditions for open drawn triples
VERY windy and cold conditions met bowlers in the open drawn triples championships at the Camperdown Bowls Club last Thursday.

Round four saw 18 players participating in the first round – with two more rounds to be played on Thursday and the winning team decided.
Numbers were disappointing, so members please ask a fellow member and put your team into the open pairs championship being run in November.
Saturday weekend pennant was played on a sunny day but the wind was very strong.
In division four Lismore/Camperdown didn’t have far to travel - just up Park Lane to the Camperdown Golf Magpies number 3 side.
Camperdown had three full teams this week but they were just too good.
Lyn, Jim, Caroline and Judy lost 7-43.
Paul, Deb, Gerard and Donna lost 11-26.
Ted, John, Mal and Noel lost 12-40.
The ladder is Cobden 3, Camperdown Golf 3, Winchelsea 3, Camperdown Golf 4, Cressy 2, Central 3, Birregurra 2 and Lismore/Camperdown.
Next week Lismore/Camperdown play home against the other Golf side.

Camperdown 2 headed down the highway to play Colac 3, which Colac ended up winning 84-60 but Camperdown’s side of Ron Simcox, Stan, Bert and Graeme fought all day to eventually win.
Never leading until drawing even on the 17th end, 14-all.
They then won 21-16. It’s the last five ends that are important.
Ron Absalom, Les, David and Jim did the opposite; they led all day until the 20th end where they dropped four shots to be down 18-16 but could only pick up one shot on the last to go down 17-18.
The team of Les Pearson, Michael, Gerard, and Ray had a game that went up, down, draw and then on the last four ends they did a total of 10 shots to go down 12-22.
The fourth team of Tom Hose, Herm and Max had a bit a change due to an injury to one of the original players picked.
Filumena was asked to step up at the last minute to fill that position.
The day just didn’t go their way, going down 10-28.
Next week will see them play Simpson 2 at Thornton Street.
The ladder after round four is, Cobden 2, City 3, Simpson 2, Camperdown 2, Colac 3, Colac 4, and Lorne 2.

Division one welcomed Cobden to Camperdown.
Sunny, windy and very trying conditions was the order of the day.
Camperdown won on all rinks but it was the last five ends on every rink that nearly bought them undone.
Players must not relax if they want to be there at the business end of the season.
Macca’s team of Darren, Geoff and David led from the start and were 24-14 up with four ends to go, only to win 24-22.
Luke Wright’s team picked up six shots on end 18 to be 26-13 with seven ends to play.
Cobden won five ends to two in the last seven but Luke’s team won 28-23.
Ron Cameron’s team also had a 10-shot lead at the 20th end 22-12.
Cobden also won four of the last five ends.
Fortunately, Ron’s team did win one end which won them the game 23-22.
Burger’s side of Peter, Maria and Lud got off to a flyer and were 11-0 up on the seventh end.
On the 20th end they were 22-9 but only managed to win one more end to win 23-15.
Next week Camperdown welcomes Central who are just above them on the ladder in 6th spot.

Southwest 60 and overs were played on Tuesday October 31.
Results are: Cobden Red 25 lost to Cobden Black 50, Camperdown White 46 defeated Terang 36, Camperdown Black 40 defeated Mortlake White 38, Timboon had the bye.
The ladder is Cobden Black, Mortlake White, Cobden Black, Cobden Red, Camperdown Black, Camperdown White and Terang.
Next week round four will play on Monday November 6 due to Melbourne Cup.
Terang greens are not available on the Monday, so Cobden Red will host Terang.
Camperdown Black will play Timboon away.
