College celebrates outstanding achievement
EIGHT students of Camperdown College’s Year Nine class have been recognised for significant improvement in their recent National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results.
The students received a NAPLAN Certificate of Achievement, which are awarded to Year Nine students who achieve “outstanding or significantly improved” NAPLAN test results.
The award also aims to celebrate and recognise the importance of learning growth and excellence.
Principal Xavier Davis said Camperdown College was “delighted” with the initial results for students at both the junior and senior campuses.
“Having one student recognised would have been cause for celebration, but to have eight students is a delight, highlighted with so many of our Year Nines being recognised for outstanding achievement in the top 10 per cent in the state,” he said.
“The very high cohort achievement results this year of all students in Year Three, Five, Seven and Nine can be attributed to years of high-quality teacher instruction, support from the wonderful families and the calm and focused learning environments.
“This year, the college achieved the unbelievable feat of a perfect 100 per cent score for Year Three Writing – made even more special with every student enrolled completing the assessments.
“We are extremely pleased to have outperformed similar schools across the state in 18 of the 20 areas assessed in NAPLAN, showing a great learning culture on both campuses. A tremendous achievement that the Camperdown College community can be extremely proud of.”
Students who received the award for the reading test were Lila Horspole, Tyler Heffernan-Morgan, Mercy Rothman, Patrick Spokes, Kayla Loving, Nancy Leonard-Pekin, Isabella Foster and Jake Van Es.
Nancy Leonard-Pekin also received the award for her numeracy test results.
